Premier League clubs are expected to go big this summer on transfers, and the rumours already flying out are outrageous, to say the least.
Premier League giants such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea look set to spend the cash to improve their sides over the transfer window, whilst rumours also suggest that Newcastle United and West Ham will bring in some big-name players over the summer.
Whilst the window is yet to open, HITC Sport take look at every Premier League club’s most ridiculous transfer rumour so far, from Aston Villa eyeing an FC Barcelona icon to Norwich City looking to rival Liverpool for the next great British talent.
Arsenal – Eden Hazard
Eden Hazard has had a mare of a time at Real Madrid, and reports in Spain now claim that Arsenal could be the one to save the winger from his time in La Liga, with Mikel Arteta reportedly keen on bringing the £150m flop back to the Premier League.
Aston Villa – Luis Suarez
As mentioned, Aston Villa are looking at signing an ex-Barcelona star, and that man is no other than Luis Suarez, with reports suggesting that Steven Gerrard wants to repeat the success of Philippe Coutinho with another former Liverpool teammate of his.
Brentford – Hugo Ekitike
Not necessarily a ridiculous transfer rumour of sorts, but Premier League new-boys Brentford being linked with £30m Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike is quite a surprise to the system, especially given how highly-rated the teenage striker is and how far youngster could go in his career.
Brighton – Aaron Hickey
With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all reportedly chasing Aaron Hickey, it’s quite a surprise that Brighton are also a side who are chasing Aaron Hickey given how strong the competition is for the Scotland international.
Burnley – Nuno Espirito Santo
The only manager to appear on this list, Burnley’s search for a replacement for Sean Dyche could see the Clarets land on formed Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo, with the Turf Moor side surprisingly interested in appointing the Portuguese figure this summer.
Chelsea – Tammy Abraham
Chelsea’s decision to sell Tammy Abraham and sign Romelu Lukaku looked like pure genius last summer, yet 12 months on, the Blues are now looking to go back on their deal, with the now-AS Roma star enjoying his best season ever whilst his Belgian counterpart looks desperate to leave west London this summer.
Crystal Palace – Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen’s future will be one of the most interesting storylines to cover this summer, and one of the surprise sides interested in the Brentford star is Crystal Palace, with Patrick Vieira’s side reportedly eyeing the Danish maestro in what would be a surprising move.
Everton – Gavi
A starter for Barcelona and full Spanish international at the age of 17 is an extreme rarity in football, even more so is the level of confidence Everton have in thinking they can sign Gavi if reports are to be believed, with the midfield sensation having a release clause of £42m, for now.
Leeds United – Sergino Dest
From one ambitious Barcelona swoop to another, Leeds United are reportedly interested in USA international Sergino Dest, despite the right-back having a release clause of €400m (£337m) and new transfer rumours indicating that a Premier League move is unlikely for the 21-year-old.
Leicester City – Charles De Ketelaere
Had Leicester City built from their back-to-back European places in the Premier League, this transfer rumour of the Foxes eyeing Charles De Ketelaere would seem realistic on paper, yet with a midtable finish on the cards, it is unlikely that the exciting Belgian will be moving to the King Power anytime soon.
Liverpool – Pedri
Everton and Leeds eyeing moves for Pedri and Dest is one thing, but Liverpool’s reported interest in Pedri is another, especially when you consider that the Barcelona star now has a release clause of €1bn, something Xavi Hernandez will likely be sticking to for the talented Spaniard.
Manchester City – Paul Pogba
As like with Eriksen, Paul Pogba’s future will be an interesting one to follow this summer, and according to recent reports, Manchester City have been entertaining the possibility of signing the France international, a move that would no doubt infuriate United supporters.
Manchester United – Sebastien Haller
Speaking of United, their most surprising transfer rumour so far has to be that of Sebastien Haller, with incoming Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag no doubt going to be linked with numerous players from the Dutch giants, especially after their Eredivisie title win earlier this month.
Newcastle United – Ousmane Dembele
Newcastle’s newfound wealth will make the Magpies one heck of a club to follow this summer, yet even after all this time, Ousmane Dembele remains the most audacious player the Toon have been linked with, especially based on how incredible the winger has been this year for Barcelona.
Norwich City – Calvin Ramsay
Norwich’s return to the Championship will have Dean Smith plotting a squad rebuild that will hopefully see the Canaries return to the Premier League, and targeting the likes of Calvin Ramsay, who looks set for Liverpool, will be a sure way of getting supporters on his side for next season.
Southampton – Endrick
Southampton’s youth policy is one of the best in the country, yet even to the most ardent of supporters, the Saints reportedly scouting Brazilian wonderkid Endrick is a bit of an overstep, with the 15-year-old three years away from even being allowed to move to England.
Tottenham – Raheem Sterling
Antonio Conte has one massive task on his hands this summer in rebuilding Tottenham, yet links to Raheem Sterling are a shock, to say the least, considering that Heung-min Son has performed well in the England international’s position this season, with Dejan Kulusevski also flourishing out wide.
Watford – Malang Sarr
As with Norwich, Watford will be looking for a different approach this summer if they are to return to the Premier League and stay up, and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr would be a brilliant yet shocking signing given how regularly the French youngster has featured this season for the Blues.
West Ham – Nicolas Pepe
West Ham’s obvious need for a striker is reaching new heights, so of course, it makes sense that the Hammers are reportedly interested in Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe over Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, two centre-forwards who are set to leave the Gunners for free.
Wolves – Hirving Lozano
Wolves’ pulling power in recent years has often left rival fans speechless, and Hirving Lozano could be another example of the Molineux side making a transfer that very few expected yet all are jealous about.
