Chelsea are reportedly looking to re-sign Tammy Abraham in 2023 when the striker’s buyback clause with AS Roma activates, with Arsenal also interested in the attacker.
According to Il Messaggero via GIFN, the Blues are just one of multiple Premier League clubs interested in Abraham, with Manchester United, Tottenham and the aforementioned Arsenal also keeping tabs on the England international.
As per the report, though, Roma are unwilling to let Abraham go this summer, with the Daily Mail further reporting that Jose Mourinho’s side will only entertain offers of £100m if a club wanted to try their luck with the 24-year-old.
Abraham has been the highest-scoring English player in Europe’s top-five leagues this season, with the former Premier League star bagging 15 goals in Serie A and 23 in all competitions.
And it’s this form that has caught the eye of former side Chelsea, with the west London side having a buyback clause worth a reported €80m (£67m) that only becomes active next year, much to the dismay of Thomas Tuchel.
With Romelu Lukaku failing to match the club-record fee Chelsea spent to re-sign their former attacker, the reigning European champions could for the second year in a row be looking to sign a new striker, with Arsenal target Abraham now on their radar.
Arsenal could still beat Chelsea to Abraham signing in 2023

Whilst Chelsea do have a clause to bring Abraham back to Stamford Bridge, there’s a strong chance that the striker might not even want to return to his former club, and this could be the opening Arsenal need to sign the England international.
Indeed, the Gunners, in hindsight, should have signed Abraham last summer when they had the chance, and in 2023, Arsenal could finally land the attacker if Roma decide to sell their star forward despite Chelsea’s clause for the Three Lions star.
