According to Sport, David Beckham now wants to bring Luis Suarez to Inter Miami, after Aston Villa expressed an interest in signing him.

What’s the story?

Well, back in January, the Villans were linked with the £5.5m man, who Gerard Romero claimed was interested in moving to Villa Park after an offer was made.

Of course, Suarez knows Steven Gerrard well from their time at Liverpool, while another familiar face, Philippe Coutinho, is also in the Midlands.

Now, however, any hopes Aston Villa had of signing the Uruguay international may be thwarted by Beckham.

Sport believe the 46-year-old wants to sign Suarez, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba for his Major League Soccer franchise.

The Atlético Madrid striker becomes a free agent in June, and the Spanish news outlet claim that he won’t be staying at the Wanda Metropolitano.

It speaks volumes that Beckham wants Suarez to play in Major League Soccer, as that tends to be a division where superstars go to retire.

Gerrard is building an excellent side at Villa Park, and despite the South American’s heroics throughout his career, he isn’t the player he once was.

Signing Suarez – who is now 35 – over a younger option with higher resale value would be a poor decision by the Villans.

Of course, it would be fun to see Suarez and Coutinho link up again under the guidance of Gerrard.

However, it would be a purely romantic move, and one without the long-term in mind – a short-sighted deal in every sense of the term.
