Tottenham Hotspur remain in the market for new signings and may even land a player who has been impressing at the Olympic Games.

Ange Postecoglou is heading into his second season as Tottenham Hotspur boss and will be looking for more additions.

Europa League football is returning to North London and Tottenham will need squad depth to cope with that extra workload.

Tottenham’s priority so far has been the addition of teen talents who could become superstars down the line.

Lucas Bergvall snubbed Barcelona and agreed to join Tottenham back in February, finally starting his Spurs career this summer.

Spurs raided Leeds United for Archie Gray, who has already admitted his love for Ange Postecoglou.

South Korean talent Yang Min-hyuk is the latest addition, with three of Tottenham’s last four signings coming in aged 18.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with Amir Richardson

Tottenham have been chasing midfield additions this summer – even after signing Bergvall and Gray.

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has been eyed but looks to be joining Atletico Madrid instead whilst Spurs targeted Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey earlier in the window.

Spurs may look further afield though and one target has been in action at the Olympic Games.

Foot Mercato in France now claim that Tottenham are interested in signing Reims midfielder Amir Richardson.

It was suggested that Spurs have been closely watching Richardson at the Olympics, where he has been featuring for Morocco.

Richardson’s run at the Olympics came to an end on Monday though as Spain dumped them out of the competition.

The Athletic add that Richardson is the source of ‘heightened interest’ off the back of his displays at the Olympics.

Reims allegedly want around £13million for Richardson with Leicester City and Italian clubs showing an interest.

Tottenham won’t be alone in the race for Richardson but it remains to be seen just how strongly they pursue him alongside a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

Who is Amir Richardson?

Richardson hails from Nice and is the son of former NBA star Micheal Ray Richardson, with his mother hailing from Morocco.

That meant Richardson was eligible to play for France, the United States and Morocco, eventually choosing the latter.

Richardson started with hometown club Nice before joining Le Havre in 2019, where he showed the potential to land his move to Reims in 2022.

The 22-year-old is an enormous presence at 6ft 6in tall but has mostly played as a box-to-box player rather than a defensive midfielder.

Speaking to L’Union in 2023, Richardson admitted that Paul Pogba – another former Le Havre talent – is one of his inspirations as a midfielder.

The pair share similar physical traits but Richardson has yet to show the game-changing attacking quality Pogba possessed as a youngster.

Perhaps that will emerge in the coming years and Tottenham see the potential for Richardson to become a star down the line.
