Tottenham Hotspur have placed a strong focus on signing young talents in recent times and now appear to be closing in on another top prospect.
Ange Postecoglou is looking to take Tottenham Hotspur forward and Spurs are making moves which suggest that this is a long-term project.
Fifth place last season was both an improvement and a disappointment; Spurs could have easily found themselves in the top four.
Postecoglou would rather build something long-lasting rather than get into the Champions League and then regress because Spurs aren’t ready.
That is an interesting approach and Postecoglou has been handed an exciting crop of young talents to develop.
Ashley Phillips, Luka Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have all arrived in the Postecoglou and should become key players down the line.
Tottenham aren’t done recruiting youngsters though and Fabrizio Romano claims that Spurs are on the verge of signing South Korean talent Yang Min-hyuk.

Tottenham Hotspur target Yang Min-hyuk profiled
Yang has been catapulted to stardom in South Korea having been playing high school football before emerging with Gangwon FC.
The 18-year-old was playing as a semi-pro when he won the Young Player of the Month award in the K League earlier this year.
The list of accolades is unbelievable; youngest player and goalscorer in the history of the K League, youngest Young Player of the Month award winner, youngest debutant in Gangwon’s history.
Primarily a winger, Yang has been turning heads with his displays having already racked up seven goals and three assists in 24 K League appearances.
Unsurprisingly, Yang – a South Korean winger – has evoked memories of Son Heung-min.
Yonhap News noted in June that a goal scored against Gwangju was a ‘right-footed curling shot reminiscent of Son Heung-min’.
Coach Yoon Jung-hwan has made the comparison too, believing that he could ‘do well like Son Heung-min’.
Yang has only been playing senior football for a few months but already finds himself on Tottenham’s wish list.
Escaping the comparisons to Son won’t be easy but Yang has been making a name for himself in South Korea and isn’t just viewed as the ‘new Son’.
Having arguably South Korea’s finest football export – alongside Cha Bum-kun and Park Ji-sung – at Tottenham would surely help Yang’s transition if a deal is done.
Still, Tottenham are surely more likely to leave Yang on loan, allowing him to continue playing senior football having enjoyed a meteoric rise in 2024.
Romano claims that Tottenham are likely to keep Yang with Gangwon until January, but a loan move to Europe is surely in the plans after that.
What has been said about Yang?
“(My strengths) are speed and dribbling, but I can just beat two or three people,” – Yang on his style of play.
“My goal is to become a player with both individual skills and teamwork like Phil Foden,” – Yang on his role model.
“It’s incomparable to when I was a high school student. I don’t think there’s a player who does this much at this age,” – Gangwon coach Yoon Jung-hwan.
