Manchester United have endured an indifferent start to the season on-the-field but off-the-field their new footballing department is delivering.

HITC exclusively revealed in June that Manuel Ugarte had been offered to United as Paris Saint-Germain made Joao Neves their primary summer target.

Ugarte was already a player on United’s radar when contacts were made via his agent Jorge Mendes, and since then he has been the club’s top midfield target.

United giving PSG the money back they paid Sporting for Ugarte

HITC now understands that United have agreed terms with PSG and the deal is worth €60million (£51million) which is what the French side paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte, in the summer of 2023.

United have been locked in talks with PSG all summer over whether their move would be a permanent one or a loan with an obligation and their main issue was making room in their squad for Ugarte as the proposed sale of Casemiro to the Saudi Pro League stalled weeks ago.

Christian Eriksen has failed to attract significant interest which had left Scott McTominay as the most sellable midfielder in their squad and he is now closing on his exit.

Scott McTominay set for move to Napoli

McTominay has rejected Fulham earlier this month, before which he shunned interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. However, he is now set to accept a move to Serie A.

Napoli agreed terms with United on a £25million deal over the weekend and talks have progressed with the player, who is now due for a medical in Italy.

With McTominay going to Naples, that has allowed United to push through Ugarte on a permanent deal rather than a loan.
