- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer.
A new defensive midfielder looks to be one of Manchester United’s priorities this summer with the future of Brazilian Casemiro currently unclear whilst Sofyan Amrabat’s loan spell at Old Trafford is also set to come to an end.
HITC previously reported that United were working hard to try and move on the former Real Madrid midfielder this summer who is understood to be one of the club’s top earners.
Casemiro has two years remaining on his deal at Old Trafford worth £300,000 a week and if they can move on the Brazilian, then a replacement would be needed.

United offered chance to sign PSG star who is ‘made of steel’
Sources have confirmed to HITC that Erik ten Hag’s side have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and United have confirmed they are indeed keen.
The Uruguayan only moved to the Parc Des Princes last summer for £51 million but has struggled under Luis Enrique and played just 25 Ligue 1 games, with 21 of these starts for the French giants.
United are understood to not be the only side who are interested in the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder with Chelsea also having a long standing interest in Ugarte.
Liverpool and Arsenal also like the Uruguayan and were keen before he completed his summer move to PSG.
HITC now understands that all four of these Premier League sides have been contacted about his availability this summer.
During his time at Sporting Lisbon, Ugarte was once hailed for being ‘made of steel’ due to his defensive toughness.
PSG would be open to Ugarte loan
It is unclear how much money United have to play with this summer so the Red Devils may have to get creative in terms of deals, particularly with the club missing out on Champions League football.
Sources have now told HITC that PSG would be open to the possibility of loaning out Ugarte but the deal would have to include an option to make it permanent and one that is attainable.
HITC is also told that Ugarte is open to the prospect of leaving the French capital, but it’s not just teams from England who are keen with strong interest understood to be emanating from Italy, Spain and Germany.
