Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have signed two teenage gems in this summer’s transfer window – Archie Gray and Leny Yoro.

Both clubs missed out on Champions League football last term and are now desperate to get back in with the elite ahead of the new season kicking off in August.

There aren’t any question marks over Ange Postecoglou, who in his debut season at Tottenham, guided the club to fifth and Europa League football.

That was even more impressive given that the London club had just lost their all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

But it was a different story over at Old Trafford, with dark clouds overhead and question marks over the manager.

Despite that, Manchester United confirmed a new deal for Erik ten Hag and they have since backed him in the summer transfer window.

That included Manchester United signing highly-rated defender Levy Yoro, but he wasn’t the only teenager to make a big move this summer.

Tottenham also secured the transfer of Archie Gray from Leeds United, with both clubs being pretty clear in their strategy going forward.

Dean Saunders stated that he has been told that ‘everyone I spoke to say Yoro is really good’, with Jamie O’Hara thinking ‘everyone wants to sign young players’ now.

The former midfielder stated even ‘Tottenham are doing it’, as he added that bringing in that 30-year-old player has become ‘non-existent’, as he told talkSPORT (23/07/24 at 4:15 pm).

“At Man United, you are expected to win everything, so your two centre-backs are vital,” said Saunders. “I think they are going down the right road. They are signing a young centre-back, who everybody I spoke to says he is really good.”

O’Hara added: “They are going down a road of a little bit like what Chelsea were trying to do. They are maybe going to do it with a bit more quality, with the players that they sign. Everyone wants to sign young players.

“Spurs are doing it. The days of signing a 30-year-old, they are almost non-existent.”

Archie Gray and Leny Yoro in the Premier League

When the summer window slams shut on August 30, these two will prove to be some of the best business anyone in the league has conducted.

Yoro is more unknown because he has been plying his trade in Ligue 1, but he was outstanding for a progressive Lille side who were managed by now-AC Milan coach, Paulo Fonseca.

As for Gray, from 17 going on 18, he was bossing proceedings in the Championship with his boyhood club Leeds United and now he is in the top tier.

Tottenham fans have all been saying the same thing about Gray in pre-season because he has made a fantastic start.
