Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has given his thoughts on Liverpool’s reported interest in Goncalo Inacio.
Liverpool are yet to make a senior first team signing under Arne Slot this summer with the Reds set to kick off their Premier League campaign this weekend.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi snubbed the chance to move to Liverpool this summer despite the fact it appeared that the Anfield club were becoming confident that they could pull off a deal.
Instead, Liverpool will have to move for alternative targets. One area the Reds were understood to be keen on was at centre-back and it appears a name has been put forward for the Reds.

Ruben Amorim quizzed on Goncalo Inacio’s future
Liverpool were reportedly set to meet Goncalo Inacio’s agent with a possible deal for the Sporting Lisbon defender in the works.
The report stated that Sporting Lisbon would allow the Portuguese centre-back to depart the club for a fee in the region of £35-40 million.
Now, manager Ruben Amorim, who was ironically linked to the Liverpool job, has spoken out about Premier League interest in the 22-year-old defender.
“A lot of news has already come out,” he told O Jogo when asked about the rumours. “I don’t know if there have been negotiations. Inácio will play tomorrow. He’s ready. Whatever happens in the market.
“We already have some experience; we know that our players are very attractive for the market. Until it closes, everything is possible. No more or less worried about waiting for the market to close.”
Another name who is of interest to Premier League clubs is Viktor Gyokeres but it seems unlikely any English side will trigger the release clause in his contract.
Liverpool could be in for a busy end to the window
Liverpool have already been ridiculed in the Spanish media due to having to deal with another player, in Zubimendi, saying “no” to the Merseyside club.
A new backup goalkeeper appears to be on Liverpool’s radar with HITC reporting that Caoimhin Kelleher attracting interest from Celtic this summer.
HITC has reported that Liverpool have decided on Valencia goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvilli with their being a possibility that the Reds could loan the Greek goalkeeper out this summer for a year or two before replacing Alisson.
With just two weeks to go before the end of the summer transfer window, Liverpool will have to get a move on if they are to make a big move this summer.
