According to Calciomercato, Chelsea are now ready to bid €81m (£68m) to sign Tottenham target Milan Skriniar.

What’s the story?

Well, this would throw a spanner in the works for Spurs.

Skriniar – who helped Antonio Conte win the Serie A title with Inter Milan in 2021 – is supposedly the dream signing for Tottenham this summer, with Fabio Paratici working hard on a deal.

Tottenham’s Director of Football is said to have monitored the Slovakia international for over a year.

Now, however, the north Londoners could be about to lose out on Skriniar, and to their bitter London rivals of all clubs.

Calciomercato believe Chelsea are eyeing a triple raid on Inter Milan, with moves for Denzel Dumfries and Cesare Casadei also expected from the west Londoners.

Worryingly for Tottenham, the Italian news outlet believe Chelsea would make Inter Milan think hard about selling Skriniar with the anticipated £68m offer.

Interest in the 27-year-old comes after he made 48 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan last season, scoring four goals as they won the Coppa Italia.

Tottenham have alternatives to Chelsea target

If Thomas Tuchel does pinch Skriniar from Tottenham, Spurs have alternatives.

One player who could be signed instead of the Slovakian is his Inter Milan teammate Alessandro Bastoni, who Conte is supposedly desperate to have with him in N17.

RB Leipzig colossus Josko Gvardiol is another player on Paratici’s shortlist, although Chelsea are also interested in the Croatia international.

There was interest in Gleison Bremer too, but the Brazilian has now joined Juventus.

Tottenham have just loaned Joe Rodon to Rennes, while Japhet Tanganga also looks likely to leave Spurs, so Conte could definitely do with another central defender at Hotspur Way.

Be sure to keep an eye on Tottenham, as we would be very surprised if another centre-back wasn’t signed.
