Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has been discussing Tottenham and their interest in Alessandro Bastoni.

For quite some time now, Bastoni has been touted as Spurs’ top centre-back target this summer, but unfortunately for the London club, he seems to be unattainable this summer.

Indeed, the defender’s agent has poured cold water on the idea of Bastoni leaving Inter this summer, but according to Mokbel, Tottenham are still on stand-by.

The reporter says that Spurs will be ready to go all-in on the 23-year-old if they receive any hint that he’ll be on the market before the window closes.

What’s been said?

Mokbel spoke about Tottenham and Bastoni.

“If there was any kind of opportunity, if there was any kind of sign where the club thought they had a chance here they would go full pelt for Bastoni, but from what I gather and what I hear it’s not going to happen this summer. They’re just determined to hold onto him and more importantly, Bastoni is happy to stay, he won’t agitate to get out and that points towards him staying for sure,” Mokbel said.

Won’t happen

Tottenham are on alert when it comes to Bastoni, but sadly for Spurs, this one probably isn’t going to happen.

Bastoni is settled at Inter, the Italian club won’t need to sell if the deal to take Milan Skriniar to PSG goes through and the defender is clearly a massive part of the Italian giants’ plans.

However, with just two years left on his deal, Bastoni may well be available this time next summer, and if he is, Tottenham need to have their finger on the pulse.

Spurs may be on alert this summer, but they may have to wait until 2023 to do this deal.
