Tottenham look set to miss out on Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, with PSG reportedly close to agreeing on a deal to sign the Slovakian international.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, progress between the two European clubs is gaining pace, with PSG confident in signing the 27-year-old centre-back in a deal that would come as a blow for Tottenham, with Fabio Paratici looking to bring Skriniar to north London from as early as last summer.

Just like last year, Inter are looking to offload a big-name player in the transfer window in an attempt to both balance the books and to bring in new signings, with the Nerazzurri losing their Serie A title to city rivals AC Milan, and Skriniar is looking likely to leave the San Siro in the coming weeks.

With a reported price tag of £55m, Skriniar has been one of the best defenders in Serie A for some time and has played a huge role in Inter’s incredible rise back to the top of the European game, with the centre-back key to the club’s Scudetto under Antonio Conte last season.

Indeed, with the Tottenham boss set to spend big this summer, Skriniar looked likely to join the Italian in north London with Ivan Perisic. However, it now looks like the towering Slovakian titan will now join PSG, with the French giants looking to rebuild and challenge for the UEFA Champions League next season.

And signing Skriniar will be a huge coup for PSG and their chances of finally winning European silverware, with Sergio Ramos hardly featuring for the Ligue 1 champions and Presnel Kimpembe enduring a difficult year under Mauricio Pochettinio.

Tottenham should be kicking themselves for allowing PSG to sign Skriniar

Whilst a deal is not confirmed just yet, it will be frustrating for Tottenham supporters over how their club have conducted themselves in their pursuit for Skriniar, with the Inter defender perfect for what Spurs are missing in the defence.

However, with PSG getting ever closer to signing Skriniar, Tottenham should be annoyed for allowing the Slovakian to slip through their fingers, with very few defenders on the market as perfect as the Serie A star this summer.
