Simon Jordan told talkSPORT (22/06/21 at 11:00 am) that it’s ‘really surprising’ at how ‘quickly’ information about Tottenham’s search for a new manager is finding itself into the media.
The former Crystal Palace owner claimed that Tottenham themselves and the candidates are all playing a part in this information seemingly being leaked.
It has been over two months since Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho, yet Daniel Levy hasn’t managed to find a replacement.
And Jordan, who would have hired and fired a few managers during his days in the hot seat, shared his take on Tottenham’s manager search.
“What is really surprising to me, and this is probably a silly thing to say, is how quickly and easily this is finding itself into the media,” said Jordan.
“Every single time Tottenham index themselves to somebody, it seems as though Tottenham want the media to know, which I don’t believe Daniel Levy wants to do.
“Or the candidates themselves want the media to know, or their representation does. And all of that makes it very difficult.”
At the start, many Tottenham fans were harbouring the dream that Mauricio Pochettino would leave PSG and return to North London – but that soon fell on its head.
Then it was whether Levy could pull off the capture of Antonio Conte after he won the title in Italy, but once again, just like Conte’s defences, those in the Spurs boardroom hit a brick wall.
And now the club are seemingly back to ‘square one’, as pre-season edges closer and Spurs don’t have a candidate to get their ship running once more.
Unless it twists and turns once again, Spurs fans can perhaps rule out the likes of Conte, Pochettino, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso taking their reigns.
