The mystery over who will be Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager has continued today, after reports in Italy claim that they have offered Antonio Conte a contract.
La Stampa say that Tottenham have approached the Inter Milan boss and that they are now ‘close’ to appointing him.
The report says that Spurs are willing to pay Conte around £17 million a year to take the job.
That would mean that Pep Guardiola would be the only manager on more money than him in the Premier League.
It would also mean that Conte would be on even more money than Jose Mourinho, who was previously the highest paid manager in Tottenham history.
So that’s sorted then?
Well not quite.
While Italian sources have been very strong about Tottenham going for Conte for weeks now, there has been fair more doubt in England.
Alasdair Gold vehemently denied claims that Conte could be the next Tottenham boss on his latest Youtube video, as HITC covered this morning.

It is rare to see such conflicting reports emerge within 24 hours of each other, but it does show that Tottenham are keeping their cards very close to their chest as they hunt for Mourinho’s successor.
If Conte was to come he would certainly be a high profile appointment for Spurs.
Conte has just won the Serie A title with Inter Milan and also also has previously lifted the Premier League title while in charge of Chelsea.
