Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Mauricio Pochettino’s potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine has been strongly linked with a move to the north London club, but according to Romano, this doesn’t look to be a move on the cards as he claims that PSG are 100 per cent convinced that the 49-year-old will still be at the French club next season.

What’s been said?

Romano claims that reports of Spurs wanting Pochettino to come back are on the money, but the people he has spoken to at PSG are utterly convinced that he won’t be leaving.

“It’s true that Tottenham want him. It is absolutely true, they were trying in the last days, as has been reported, so this is true, but signing a manager who is under contract is not easy. Especially a manager who is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG are not intentioned to let him leave. It is not easy to get Pochettino, you either pay a big fee to PSG, or it gets really complicated. Tottenham have other options, not only Pochettino, and at the moment PSG are 100% convinced that they will continue with Mauricio Pochettino,” Romano said.

Costly and complicated

Regardless of how much both parties want this to happen, getting Pochettino out of Paris is easier said than done.

PSG are one of the richest clubs in the world, and they have a lot of power in this situation.

Spurs will have to pay big money to get the Argentine out of his contract with the Ligue 1 giants, but if they’re serious about bringing him in, that may be what they have to do.

People within PSG seem to think that it’s not going to happen, and with all of these factors, it seems as though any move for Pochettino could be costly and complicated for Tottenham.
