Tottenham Hotspur are chasing the signing of a new striker and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has commented on Dominic Solanke.

We are now a year removed from Harry Kane’s Tottenham Hotspur exit and a clear replacement hasn’t really been brought in.

Brennan Johnson joined Tottenham last year, completing a move from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day.

The Welshman was mostly used out wide though and the same goes for Timo Werner, who joined on loan from RB Leipzig in January.

Werner is back for another loan spell this season but is likely to operate down the left flank rather than though the middle.

Adding another striker should be a priority and Tottenham appear to be focusing on a move for Bournemouth hitman Dominic Solanke.

Andoni Iraola on Tottenham Hotspur target Dominic Solanke

HITC understands that Tottenham want Solanke.

Spurs are keen on Solanke and are willing to pay £65million to bring him to North London this summer.

Bournemouth have started identifying potential Solanke replacements, with Tammy Abraham and Cameron Archer on their wish list.

HITC also understands that Tottenham are in talks to land Solanke and a move doesn’t depend on selling Richarlison.

We understand that Solanke does want the move to Tottenham this summer but Bournemouth understandably don’t want to lose their star man.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola admitted that Solanke is his ‘most important player’.

Iraola believes that Solanke provides much more than goals as he helps in terms of creating chances and pressing the opposition.

Iraola added that he believes Solanke is happy on the South Coast but can’t absolutely guarantee his future at the Vitality Stadium.

“It’s obvious, Dom is the most important player for us. But the numbers are there,” said Iraola. “It’s not [just] about the goals, he helps us a lot in the build-up, the press. He doesn’t have big weaknesses for us, he makes us a much better team.

“I feel like he’s happy here. He’s already training with the group. We cannot control everything, we don’t know how the market is going to finish but whatever happens he is a top professional. He’ll be helping the team, I hope, for a lot of years,” he added.

Ivan Toney latest

Solanke is not the only name on Tottenham’s wish list.

HITC understands that Tottenham are also in talks with Brentford hitman Ivan Toney ahead of a potential move.

Toney and Solanke are both tried-and-tested in the Premier League and that may appeal to Spurs.

Tottenham are also looking abroad though and have been in contact over Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

The Mexican hitman smashed 23 league goals last season and Tottenham have him on their list.

Iraola will hope to make it to the end of the month with Solanke still at the club but Spurs will be pushing to strike a deal.
