Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker has praised the club’s move to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
Steven Caulker has praised Tottenham Hotspur for signing Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson on deadline day.
Tottenham left it very, very late but did their new attacker signed up before the window slammed shut.
After weeks of speculation, Tottenham secured the signing of Johnson in the final stages of the transfer window.
Spurs forked out pretty hefty cash, spending £47.5million to bring the Welshman down to North London.
A speedy forward who can play across the front line, Johnson will now bring major versatility to Ange Postecoglou’s attack.
Speed, versatility and homegrown eligibility, Johnson ticks the boxes for Tottenham as they embrace ‘Angeball’.
Johnson wasn’t registered in time to face Burnley this weekend but you can be sure that Tottenham are primed to unleash their new forward after the international break.

Some Tottenham fans aren’t entirely convinced by this move.
Harry Kane has gone and splashing big money on a forward who scored eight goals last season hasn’t been to everybody’s taste.
Hopefully, Johnson won’t have the pressure of being seen as the direct ‘Kane replacement’ but he will need to chip in with plenty of goals.
The move has now been praised by one former Tottenham player though with Steven Caulker sharing his view.

Caulker, speaking to Sky Sports as a pundit on deadline day (01/09, 16:40), suggested that Johnson is a ‘really exciting’ talent.
The 31-year-old – who is currently a free agent – admitted that he is ‘quite surprised’ that Forest allowed Johnson to make the move to North London.
Caulker also loves that Tottenham have bought two homegrown stars in Johnson and James Maddison, believing that Spurs really are a team to watch under Ange Postecoglou this season.
“Yeah, a really exciting young talent,” said Caulker. “I’m quite surprised Nottingham Forest have let him go but it’s obviously a number they felt they could get a replacement in. I like the fact Spurs have gone British, they have got Maddison in, who has started the season really really well and, as I said, I think they’re a club which are one to watch this year,” he added.
