After signing in January, Lucas Bergvall has made a positive start to life as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The 18-year-old signed from Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgarden, but only joined up with his new team this summer.

Straightaway, Ange Postecoglou has thrown him into the deep end and he has been a regular in pre-season for Tottenham.

Destiny Udogie was keen to praise Bergvall in pre-season, with Spurs securing three wins from three matches.

There is a mix of youth and experience in the dressing room, even though Tottenham have been slammed for letting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg go.

There are plenty of senior faces around Hotspur Way for Bergvall to learn from because this is where he needs a strong dressing room around him.

The man who dons the captains armband is Son Heung-min. Perhaps one of the most popular players at the club.

Son isn’t known to be a vocal figure, but he does bring everyone together and leads by example when he is on the pitch.

Bergvall spoke about the South Korean star and how he is ‘amazing’ both on and off the field of play, as he told Hayters TV.

The Spurs new boy added that he also watches Son closely to see ‘why he is that good’ because he has been performing at a high level for nearly a decade now.

“He’s a top player,” said Bergvall. “You can see that he has been doing this for a very long time. He’s a great person as well.

“Off and on the pitch, he is amazing. It’s hard not to like him. He guides you on the pitch and helps. You can also learn from him as a good footballer, you can watch him and see the things he is doing so well and why he is that good.

“It’s a lot of new pressure for me and a lot of new things to learn from everyone in the team and, especially Son.”

Tottenham’s young guns

Bergvall isn’t the only one looking lively in pre-season because Tottenham fans have all been the same thing about Archie Gray.

Academy star Mikey Moore is another one catching the eye – he scored the winner during Spurs’ win over Vissel Kobe.

But it could be argued that Gray is the one who is standing above them all and could be pushing for a start when the new Premier League season kicks off.

Tottenham secured Gray’s transfer from Leeds United and their fans were gutted to see the back of him, which just goes to show how highly he is valued and thought of.
