Tottenham Hotspur won the J.League World Challenge on Saturday morning, beating Vissel Kobe 3-2 ahead of the new Premier League season.

Ange Postecoglou will always be loved in Japan after his spell with Yokohama F. Marinos.

The Tottenham Hotspur boss left Japanese football three years ago but has made another return in this pre-season campaign.

Spurs faced Vissel Kobe on Saturday morning but fell behind with Yuya Osako opening the scoring.

Pedro Porro equalised for Tottenham before Son Heung-min put Spurs ahead, only for Jean Patric to bring Vissel Kobe level again.

Spurs still found a winner though as wonderkid Mikey Moore scored in the dying stages, securing a 3-2 victory.

Destiny Udogie on Lucas Bergvall

Postecoglou went with a very strong lineup but made changes at the break with Lucas Bergvall one player to come on.

The Swedish teenager is finally starting his Tottenham career this summer having agreed to join from Djurgarden in February.

Bergvall snubbed Barcelona in favour of a move to Tottenham and excitement has been building around him in recent month.

The 18-year-old has shown promising signs in pre-season, showing the ability to come deep and play through the lines.

Whether Postecoglou wants to throw a teenager straight into Premier League action remains to be seen, but Bergvall is certainly giving Spurs fans something to get excited about in his early stages at the club.

Bergvall has now taken to Instagram to post photos from his time in Tokyo.

Bergvall was not only playing and training but also out and about in Japan alongside teammate and compatriot Dejan Kulusevski.

Destiny Udogie responded to the teenager, simply calling him ‘starboy’ having seemingly been impressed with his performances this summer.

Udogie has yet to feature this summer as he recovers from injury, but he will have been watching Bergvall and his Spurs teammates closely.

The Italian is another player with a huge future at Tottenham and will form part of a very exciting crop of players alongside Bergvall.

The hope is that Udogie, Bergvall and the likes of Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray and Brennan Johnson – potentially even South Korean talent Yang Min-hyuk too – can come together to make Tottenham a force moving forward.

Udogie has already impressed enough to make Gary Neville’s Team of the Season for the 2023-24 campaign, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bergvall join him in there down the line.
