Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a shining light for Liverpool over the years and one of their most important players.

Even though Alexander-Arnold is still 25, he is already a Liverpool legend and probably gets into the club’s all-time XI.

But fans are now worried that they could lose their star asset, especially with Jurgen Klopp leaving in the summer and the right-back only having 12 months remaining on his contract.

Alexander-Arnold was spotted with a Real Madrid star this summer as exit rumours ramp up, with suggestions that the Champions League winners would be keen to bring him in on a free transfer.

Even the ardent Liverpool fan would agree that Alexander-Arnold is tailor-made for a team like Real Madrid, but of course, they would prefer it if he signs a new deal and stays on board.

In the worst-case scenario, if they end up losing their key asset, then who would replace the Englishman on that right-hand side?

As everyone knows too well, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) aren’t exactly the type to splash the cash – they have yet to sign a new player this summer.

So, could their Alexander-Arnold replacement be closer to home? Even if fans don’t want to hear it.

Tony Cascarino certainly thinks so, as he also reacted to Barcelona being keen to bring Alexander-Arnold on board next summer.

The former striker thinks Conor Bradley is the man to fill Alexander-Arnold’s shoes after his strong performances last season, as he told talkSPORT (11/08/24 at 6:55 am).

Liverpool have been told that the ‘immense’ Bradley has transformed physically, as he now prepares to push Trent for more minutes ahead of the new campaign.

Conor Bradley to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold?

“Why would you wonder if there was any truth,” asked Cascarino about whether or not Real Madrid or Barcelona are watching Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Liverpool.

“Would you not think people have looked at Trent and thought ‘how exciting a player’. He has got one year (on his contract) and he is 25 years old. He is capable of scoring great free-kicks. I think Barcelona are extraordinary at picking up players that are huge technical players. Real Madrid, if they saw the opportunity of bringing him in. He is going to be wanted by some of the best clubs in the world.

“Is there an optimism about Conor Bradley as well? The right-back that replaced him and done so well. There might be an idea at the football club, and whether they do leave Trent, we do have a young lad that we rate really highly who can be a top right-back. That sometimes comes into the discussion at Liverpool.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold under Arne Slot

One thing is for sure, Alexander-Arnold isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, as they have at least one more season to watch him unleash his talents.

But where will the England international play? At Euro 2024, Gareth Southgate played him in the middle of the park, but it simply didn’t work.

Alexander-Arnold has opened up on his first conversation with Slot and you wonder if the Dutchman will go down the same road as Southgate.

Martin Zubimendi has rejected the chance to join Liverpool from Real Sociedad, so Slot doesn’t exactly have a concrete player knocking on his door to start in that number six spot – and that opens up the door for Trent.
