Trent Alexander-Arnold has shared details of his first conversation with new Liverpool boss Arne Slot.
The 25-year-old right-back will be expected back in Liverpool training shortly after enjoying an extended break following Euro 2024.
Trent Alexander-Arnold helped England to reach the final in Germany before they fell at the final hurdle to Spain.
But a new season is on the horizon and all eyes will be on Arne Slot as he takes over the reins from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
The Dutchman’s pre-season preparations started poorly with a defeat to Preston last week, but most of his first-team stars are yet to return from their international breaks – including Alexander-Arnold.

Trent Alexander-Arnold on Arne Slot
Slot has been handed the incredibly difficult task of following in Klopp’s footsteps. If he is going to come close to replicating his success at Anfield then he will need the likes of Alexander-Arnold to stick around.
However, there will be some nerves among Liverpool fans with rumours of Alexander-Arnold joining Real Madrid this summer.
In a recent interview with The Mirror, Alexander-Arnold spoke about his first chat with Slot and revealed that he is excited to get back to training.
“I spoke briefly to him on the phone before the tournament [Euro 2024] started,” he said.
“He respected the fact that I was going to be away on international break so didn’t want to break up any rhythm or speak about club football in that time.
“I respected that. But yeah, it’s an exciting one – a new change, a new start and a new beginning.
“So I’m excited to get back in and lay the foundations for a good season.”
Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool next season
Should Alexander-Arnold stay with the Reds next season, Slot has a big decision to make.

At right back, Trent has revolutionised the position with his incredible passing range and threatening crosses, but question marks over his defensive abilities remain.
A move into midfield is still possible and something that Slot could consider, but after failing in that role for England this summer the Dutchman might be more cautious.
