Liverpool and Manchester United begin the new Premier League campaign with two Dutchmen in charge of their clubs.
For the Reds, it’s about life after Jurgen Klopp, with Arne Slot hoping to continue his success and win more trophies with Liverpool.
But it’s a different story at Manchester United, with huge pressure on their manager, who saved himself by winning the FA Cup last season.
Erik ten Hag signed a new deal and stayed on as Manchester United manager, despite a lot of talk and noise around it all given their eighth-placed finish last term.
Whilst those at Old Trafford struggled to even mount a Champions League battle last season, Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
But what will happen ahead of the new campaign? Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher offered their thoughts on what might unfold.
It’s fair to say that Neville’s prediction about Liverpool and Manchester United has sparked a reaction from Jamie Carragher.
The legendary right-back thinks the Reds, not only won’t finish in the top four, but they won’t secure a top six finish either.
Carragher told his fellow pundit that ‘you do this every season’ and he is just ‘saying that to get headlines’, as he told Stick to Football.
Where will Liverpool and Manchester United finish?
“The top four will look like?” asked Neville. “We have to go Arsenal and Manchester City because we all collectively agree. I do (agree about Manchester United getting in the top four). I am not sure (on Liverpool getting top four).”
Carragher then asked: “Do you think Manchester United will get in, but Liverpool won’t” to which Neville responded ‘maybe’ and Carragher added: “You say this every season without fail. Bookmark this.”
Neville then added: “Every season, yeah. I am quite often wrong as well. It gets played back during the season, it’s quite enjoyable – I am going to go Tottenham – the surprise of the season, it can be anything. Surprise Liverpool don’t finish in the top six.”
Carragher then told his fellow pundit: “You are saying that to get headlines – if Man United don’t win their first two games everyone will be talking about ten Hag’s position.”

Liverpool and Manchester United’s summer transfer window
One team has spent nothing and brought in a total of zero players, whilst the other has splashed the cash and further backed ten Hag.
Martin Zubimendi has turned down the chance to sign for Liverpool, which is a body blow to Slot because they desperately need more midfield players.

Whilst Manchester United have made several new additions, including highly-rated youngster, Leny Yoro.
Although, Carragher’s claim about Manchester United signing Yoro will divide fans, with the ball-playing centre-back now injured.
