Manchester City are Premier League champions, despite a strong fight from Liverpool and Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side took it to the final day, whilst Liverpool had faltered weeks ago in what is Jurgen Klopp’s final season as manager.
Liverpool fans were hoping for the dream ending, but they never got it. Arsenal were hoping to end their two-decade wait to become champions, but they fell short again.
Some were hoping that Manchester City would, at the very least, show signs of nerves against West Ham United, but inside 18 minutes, Phil Foden had two goals and the home team was in cruise mode.
Mohammed Kudus did provide a scare, but Rodri, who has proven time and time again to be the man for the big games, stepped up and made sure of the points.
That’s now four Premier League titles in a row from the blue half of Manchester – they become the first team in English football history to reach that feat.
Rodri mentioned that the reason why his team are so dominant is because of their ‘composure’, how they are a ‘family’ and that the ‘small details’ matter, as he told Premier League Productions (19/05/24 at 7:00 pm).
But it seems as though the Spanish midfielder feels his team needs more respect from those from the outside, as he mentioned Liverpool and Arsenal.
He hit out and stated that ‘sometimes they don’t give us credit’ because he feels Manchester City have ‘changed history’.
You would suspect, the 115 charges hovering over the club’s head is a reason for that, with Rodri making his feelings pretty clear.
Rodri reacts to Manchester City winning Premier League title
“No, we were focused on our game,” responded Rodri on if he knew about what was happening in the Arsenal and Everton game. “We knew they were going to win, so we had to win.
“To be honest, at 2-1 here, we feel a little bit. But the composure of this team. We didn’t panic at the end and we could score the third goal. I can’t be more proud of my team and teammates.
“It’s emotion, everything we have been through this season and it’s the small details. The small details make the difference – I know how tough it is to win every single game, but to be honest, it’s the only way to win this league. It’s a family. There are ups and downs, and moments of difficulty. We did it again, no matter the opponent we are facing. No matter if it’s Liverpool or Arsenal. I think sometimes they don’t give credit to us. You always have to give credit to this team, to be honest, we change the history.”

Arsenal and Liverpool next season
It’s going to be interesting to see how both teams fare next season and whether they can challenge for the title again.
You would probably back Arsenal to do so, even though they have suffered two seasons of heartache and the fact that nothing much will change in the dugout.

The same can’t be said for Liverpool. Klopp will no longer be here and Arne Slot will take over. You don’t know how he will cope because there is an element of unknown about him.
Of course, Man City will be favourites again. And, even if you push them to the wire, you just expect them to make it five in a row and no one will probably get a real chance of glory until Guardiola is out of the door.
