There has been plenty of talk about Mykhaylo Mudryk and Arsenal recently, although Mikel Arteta and Edu should focus on signing a new Mesut Özil in another target.
According to BILD in Germany, the Gunners are keen to sign Jesper Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt, and talks have already begun with the attacking midfielder’s representatives.
Mudryk – who is shining for Shakhtar Donetsk – has also been the subject of a £53m bid as Calciomercato believe, but we feel Arteta and Edu must prioritise Lindstrom.
Lindstrom would be ideal for Arsenal
In our view, the Denmark international is the one type of midfielder Arteta does not already have in his squad.
The Dane – who BILD add is valued at €30m (£26m) – is someone we would describe as a functional player, who sometimes sacrifices his own glory to help the team run smoothly.
As you can see from his performance in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 4-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim on Wednesday, in which he scored one goal and assisted another, Lindstrom certainly gets about.
The 22-year-old pops up on the left, in the centre, and also on the right, while he is almost always decisive in the final third – efficiency personified.
Lindstrom is almost Özil like in the way that he is seemingly always aware of what’s happening around him, and his intelligence helps him take up some fantastic positions inside the box.
The Eintracht Frankfurt No.29’s industry does not get in the way of him providing goal involvements either.
Lindstrom has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 21 appearances so far this season, which is a fantastic return from midfield.
Arsenal must bid for Lindstrom
In our view, £26m is a bargain for Lindstrom, and the Gunners must take advantage of that valuation before it rises significantly.

Arsenal could certainly do with another midfielder, as Albert Sambi Lokonga is struggling to hit the required standards when used in the Europa League, whereas Mohamed Elneny also lacks technical quality despite his willingness to work hard.
Lindstrom – who has been compared to Thomas Müller in the past as a result of his smart movement – boasts both technical ability as well as industry.
Under Arteta’s guidance, we strongly believe the Dane could become one of the best players in the Premier League, and also give the Spaniard his own version of the Özil we saw under Arsene Wenger.
