Tottenham Hotspur are focusing on signing top young talents as Ange Postecoglou looks to build a team to really challenge for the future.

Missing out one the top four was a blow for Tottenham Hotspur last season, but Ange Postecoglou won’t be too disheartened.

The Australian would rather build and make sure that Tottenham are ready for the Champions League than squeeze into the top four too early.

Fans may have been expecting significant additions this summer but Tottenham have so far focused on signing talented youngsters.

Lucas Bergvall is on board after agreeing to join from Djurgarden in February and he has been joined by a fellow teenager in Archie Gray.

Another young prospect looks ready to arrive with South Korean talent Yang Min-hyuk close to signing from Gangwon.

Yang is likely to return to Gangwon on loan whilst Bergvall will understandably have a transition period from Swedish football to the Premier League.

That means Gray may be the new teenager we see the most this season.

The 18-year-old featured prominently for Leeds United last season as they reached the Championship playoff final.

Gray has been tipped for a huge future and has admitted that he already loves boss Postecoglou due to his Celtic ties.

The hope is that Gray will play a key role for Tottenham for a long, long time to come with Spurs investing a considerable amount of money in the teenager.

Gray is still finding his feet at Tottenham but he has done enough to impress Ben Davies.

The Spurs defender – who has just brought up 10 years at Tottenham and has been hailed as a ‘natural leader’ – has told Tottenham’s official YouTube channel about his thoughts on Gray.

Davies admitted that he thinks Gray is an ‘incredibly talented player’, highlighting that he played so well for Leeds last term.

Davies added that he can already tell Gray has the right work ethic to become a star at Tottenham and is ‘really excited’ to see him develop over the coming years.

“Archie is an incredibly talented player,” said Davies. “He played so well last year at Leeds and we’re very lucky to have him here. Even in the first couple of weeks, you can see what kind of character he is; he’s here to work, he’s here to give his all for the club and I’m really excited to see what he can bring for this club,” he added.

Gray versatility a boost

Gray is an exciting talent for the future but his ability to play in different positions means he has a chance to feature early and often at Tottenham.

The teenager is a midfielder by trade and that is likely to be where he plays in the future.

Gray did though spend most of last season as a right back, turning in some superb displays under Daniel Farke.

Postecoglou has even been using Gray as a centre back in pre-season, with pundit Scott Minto impressed by his displays this summer.

That may be down to circumstance because Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin have been unavailable so far.

It’s more development for Gray though and his ability to play in three different roles for Spurs means he will have a great chance to feature in the Premier League this season.
