Celtic have watched Matt O’Riley depart the club and now their fans are hoping for some much-needed additions before Friday’s transfer deadline.

One thing is for sure, the money is there, it’s just a case of the powers that be spending it and backing their manager in the dugout, Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic comfortably beat St Mirren on Sunday and their ability to win the title again, even without any more new additions, won’t change, but that’s on the domestic stage.

The fans have never had an issue with what has been produced on the domestic scene – baring that season behind closed doors.

It’s in the Champions League that they need to compete in further, with O’Riley’s Celtic exit, and the £25 million they have got for him needing to be spent.

One man who could be making a switch to Parkhead before Friday’s deadline is Sheffield United defender, Auston Trusty.

Barry Ferguson backed Celtic to get a deal done for the player and highlighted Trusty was once on the books of Arsenal.

The former Rangers man added that Trusty is someone who can play ‘anywhere’ in the backline, as he told Go Radio.

“He was at Arsenal and signed for Sheffield United,” said Ferguson.

“He can play anywhere. He is a utility player. He can play fullback or centre-back. What I have seen of him, he is a decent player.”

Celtic v Rangers

The first big game of the new campaign and if Trusty gets signed, then there is every chance that he plays against Rangers.

Celtic dominated Rangers last season and there is no reason why they shouldn’t continue that dominance.

Adam Idah has returned to Celtic and started the win at St Mirren, with derby king Kyogo Furuhashi on the bench, which goes to show the level and depth of quality Rodgers has to pick from.

But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kyogo starts given his knack for scoring in these games, although, Idah did score at Ibrox and the winner in the Scottish Cup final last season.
