Celtic continue to march on after they secured a comfortable 3-0 win over St Mirren on Sunday.

Before the game, the talk was about Matt O’Riley’s imminent transfer to Brighton, but Brendan Rodgers’ side looked at ease without him.

Of course, he is going to be a huge miss for the club, but Micah Richards was watching Celtic’s performance at St Mirren and he was left impressed by what he saw.

Callum McGregor opened the scoring after three minutes with a thunderous effort from outside of the box, as Rodgers’ side made yet another rapid start.

Reo Hatate and Alistair Johnston then added the icing on the cake as the champions have made a 100% start to the new season.

Richards spoke the truth about Celtic’s performance and how they are just ‘so good’ and it’s like they are playing in ‘two different leagues’ when facing teams like St Mirren.

Already three games in and the Bhoys have a two-point lead over Rangers, with the champions and Aberdeen the only sides who have made a 100% start.

Celtic can pull away further from their rivals when they lock horns next Sunday at Parkhead for the first Glasgow derby of the new season.

McGregor will lead the team out once again and he has a fan in Richards after he watched him in action in Paisley, as he told The Rest is Football.

The former Manchester City defender stated that McGregor is a player ‘I have always liked’, with the 31-year-old pushing for his tenth title.

“I was watching the football, I started with Celtic,” said Richards about what the did on Sunday. “It was good entertainment. Celtic were good. They are just so good now, Celtic.

“They were playing St Mirren and it’s two different leagues really. They have got some good players, though.

“McGregor for Celtic. I have always liked him. A really technical player. He scored a good goal. Hatate, he scored a goal as well and Johnston, the right-back, finished it off. 3-0. Comfortable win.”

Celtic v Rangers

The duo lock horns pretty early in the season and this is Celtic’s chance to further prove their worth against their rivals.

Celtic were unbeaten against Rangers last season and it played a huge part in them winning the title again, as well as the Scottish Cup.

And they will be backing themselves to do it again, even if O’Riley is out of the door. Celtic still have Kyogo Furuhashi and he has made this derby his own in recent years.

Not forgetting Celtic’s Scottish Cup final hero Adam Idah after he returned to the club this summer and made a permanent transfer.
