Arsenal may be one of the biggest spenders in England this summer, but if we’re being brutally honest, they don’t have much to show for it.
Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokong and Aaron Ramsdale have all joined as back-ups, Martin Odegaard was already here towards the back end of last season, while Ben White has replaced David Luiz in a move that’s difficult to describe as an upgrade.
The Gunners are in dire straits at the moment, they’re bottom of the league after their worst start to a league campaign in over 60 years, and they need to give the fanbase a bit of a lift.
Luckily, there is a sure-fire way to doing that, and that’s by making a deadline day addition, and the perfect player is staring them right in the face.
Of course, we’re talking about Houssem Aouar.
Indeed, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign the Frenchman in recent days, and given their long-standing interest in Aouar, this is a move they should be all over.

It’s one that would excite the fanbase. After all, they’ve been clamouring for him to sign for over a year at this point, and he’s available at a bargain fee of just €25m (£21m).
Fabrizio Romano has claimed on that Aouar’s future could be settled on deadline day, and now that it’s upon us, the Gunners should be making their move.
As Granit Xhaka’s reckless red card showed at the weekend, there’s a lack of talent in the middle of the park at Arsenal, and Aouar could be the answer.
The Frenchman is a supreme talent – after all, Pep Guardiola has described him as ‘incredible’ in the past, and you don’t get that sort of praise from the Manchester City manager unless you have something about you.
Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign a long-term target and a player the fans want for a cut-price fee, and they would be fools to pass up this golden opportunity.
