Fabrizio Romano has said on Don Robbie’s YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could have to wait until the final day of the summer transfer window to sign Houssem Aouar.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on signing Aouar from Lyon in the summer transfer window.
The SkySport and The Guardian journalist has reported that the battle for the 23-year-old France international midfielder could go down to the wire.
Romano said on Don Robbie’s YouTube channel: “It is a complicated situation on agent’s side because as they say from France, it’s true that there is some situation from agent’s side, and that’s why I would keep an eye on Aouar till the last day of the window because now still some rumours we have with Tottenham and with Arsenal.
“These two clubs are really interested in Aouar. Fabio Paratici wanted him one year ago when he was at Juventus. He had to make a decision between Aouar and Chiesa, they decided to go for Federico Chiesa.”

Squeaky-bum time
Most fans would love their club to get business done early in the transfer window.
But you also have to admit that it is very entertaining and intriguing to see a transfer saga unfold.
Earlier this week, Romano said on The Arsenal Lounge that Arsenal and Spurs have made contact with Aouar’s agent.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

As things stand, it is more likely that Tottenham will sign Aouar.
The Gunners are on the verge of signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports.
Fellow midfielder Granit Xhaka is also staying at the Gunners, as reported by The Guardian.
So, it is hard to see Arsenal bring in another midfielder to go straight into the starting lineup.
On the other hand, as Romano points out, Tottenham’s managing director Fabio Paratici is keen on Aouar, and he could make a deal happen like he did with Cristian Romero.
