Tottenham Hotspur kicked off pre-season with a thumping victory, beating Heart of Midlothian 5-1 at Tynecastle on Wednesday night.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are gearing up for the new Premier League campaign and played a first pre-season friendly up in Scotland.
Tottenham took the lead through Brennan Johnson before Lawrence Shankland levelled it up from some slack Spurs defending.
Postecoglou saw his team accelerate after the break as teenager Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore both found the net.
Djed Spence added number four before a Lewis Neilson own goal rounded off a fine evening’s work for Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou on Celtic
This was a fine return to Scotland for Postecoglou.
The Australian is no stranger to facing Hearts having managed Celtic for two seasons before heading to Tottenham last year.
Postecoglou won the Scottish Premiership title in back-to-back seasons during his time in Glasgow, so returning to Scotland will have been an emotional trip for the Spurs boss.
Postecoglou faced Hearts 10 times at Celtic and won nine of them, so Wednesday’s result was more of the same for him.
Speaking to Football London after the game, Postecoglou reflected on his time in Scotland.
Postecoglou noted that Celtic is simply an ‘unbelievable club’, praising their simply ‘unbelievable’ support.
Postecoglou added that his family really loved their time in Scotland too, admitting that they will all look back on that period positively.
“Yeah, I loved my time here. Such an unbelievable club Celtic,” said Postecoglou. “The support I had from day one was unbelievable, but I enjoyed my whole time up here. I did, my family did, it was a great two years and I’ll always look back with great fondness. Obviously we had great success which helps but aside from that, just the life we lived and the people we met, it will always be a special time in our lives,” he added.
Could Postecoglou return to Celtic one day?
Would it really surprise anybody to see Postecoglou back in the Celtic dugout one day?
Celtic tend to leave a mark on anybody who passes through and both Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers have now had multiple spells as manager.
Postecoglou clearly loved his time in Glasgow and a return to Parkhead down the line would certainly make sense.
Bhoys fans will remember Postecoglou stating in 2023 – just months before leaving for Tottenham – that people would be ‘surprised’ by how long he would stay at Parkhead.
Postecoglou was responding to rumours suggesting that he could move to Leeds United, who failed in their battle against relegation.
Postecoglou clearly had a long stay in mind but simply couldn’t turn down the chance to move to Tottenham, who were a completely different proposition to Leeds.
Now settled at Tottenham, Postecoglou has played down talk of becoming the new England boss, so isn’t looking to move on any time soon.
Postecoglou may feel that there is some unfinished business at Celtic, especially in Europe, and his latest comments show just how much he loved his time in Glasgow; don’t rule out a return one day.
