Ange Postecoglou has responded to strong rumours that the Football Association are interested in appointing the Australian as England manager.

Since being appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur, following a successful spell at Celtic, Ange Postecoglou has made a promising start to life in North London.

Despite suffering the loss of Harry Kane, who moved to Bayern Munich last summer, Postecoglou guided the Lilywhites to a fifth placed finish in the Premier League, playing some of the most exciting football on the way for the North London club.

However, these good performances have naturally led to interest from elsewhere. There was previously interest in Postecoglou from Liverpool but it is the England national team who have been linked.

Postecoglou responds to England interest

Spurs have kicked off their pre-season campaign with a dominant 5-1 victory over Hearts with 16-year-old Mikey Moore impressing.

Following the signings of Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray and Swedish star Lucas Bergvall, things are looking promising for the Lilywhites.

In a press conference after Tottenham’s dominant victory against the Scottish side, Postecoglou was asked about his future amid links to the English national team, he was unequivocal in his response.

”I’m Tottenham manager, I’m determined to bring success to this club,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports. “That’s where my focus is. Until we achieving something here my work isn’t done.”

This will come as a huge boost with the club having a clear vision for the future for the first time since the days of Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club.

England prioritise move for Eddie Howe

Following Gareth Southgate’s decision to step down as manager of the national team, the Football Association will now turn their attention to who could be a replacement.

Tottenham fans will certainly be relieved to hear Postecoglou commit his future to the North London club.

As for England, sources have told HITC that the Three Lions are keen on appointing Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

The former Bournemouth manager is said to be open to the opportunity of replacing Southgate but the Magpies will not make things easy.
