The 2026 World Cup has seen many fans flock to North America for the summer to watch their countries in action.

With the tournament lasting for over a month, those who can afford to visit have had plenty of time to immerse themselves in American culture, including the food.

Now, one supporter from London has issued a mixed verdict on the food he has been trying whilst out in the United States.

World Cup fan called American food greasy, disgusting, but absolutely glorious

As quoted by the Chicago Tribune, Jack Goodwin called American food ‘greasy’ and ‘disgusting’, but insisted that it is still ‘absolutely glorious’.

He also admitted that he now understands the ‘obesity’ in the USA after trying the country’s cuisine.

Goodwin said: “It’s greasy, it’s disgusting, but it’s absolutely glorious.

“I don’t want to say this because it’s a little bit harsh, but the portions are a little bit larger, a lot more tastier, so I can understand the, um, obesity here. I don’t want to be harsh, but yes, the food is fantastic here.”

Elsewhere, another fan who made the trip over from England, Harrison Murphy, gave his thoughts on Chick-fil-A.

He stated: “Have you had Chick-fil-A? It was fantastic and so cheap. The sauces are free! It was remarkable. I said, ‘This is my first time, what should I try?’ The woman said, ‘You’ve got to try the Chick-fil-A sauce.’ My God, was it fantastic.”

Meanwhile, another Brit has already praised American beef after trying it in a Texas BBQ, saying that it was the best he’d had in his life.

It is fair to say that, for the most part, American food has gone down well with the majority of travelling World Cup fans this summer.

However, the portion size does seem to have shocked some who are visiting the country.
