England and the United States have a long-standing, friendly rivalry over their countries’ cuisines.

The British stereotype generally centres around a love for tea, while American portions are often super-sized compared to those in Europe.

But one England fan has firmly embraced the food the United States has to offer while following the Three Lions at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

England fan in USA for World Cup loves American beef

Thomas Tuchel’s side kicked off their tournament on Thursday evening in Arlington, Texas, at Dallas Stadium.

They secured a 4-2 win over Croatia, and in the build-up to the game, one English fan spoke to Fox News about the food he’s been eating in America, and he could not have been more positive.

He first admitted: “Hi, I love the beer and this country, by the way; it’s really good.”

The English supporter then went as far as to claim that he’d have the ‘best’ beef of his life while out in the US.

He continued: “I had Texas BBQ yesterday, I had a lovely bit of brisket.

“Picked it up, put the sauce on it, dropped it in my mouth, melted in my mouth. It was absolutely beautiful. It’s the best beef I’ve ever had in my life.”

The fan did have one question about the cuisine on offer, though, asking why Americans put Brussels sprouts gratin on their BBQ.

He asked: “What’s this Brussels sprouts gratin about? We have Brussels sprouts at Christmas in England; why do you have it on your BBQ?”

Regardless, the England fan was very much upbeat about his dining experience in the USA so far.

That should come as music to the ears of Americans and may well settle the debate about which country has the better food.
