According to Foot Mercato in France, the Gunners have been monitoring the Montpellier wonderkid for many months now, although there are no immediate plans to make a move in January.

Who is Elye Wahi?
Well, only two players have scored 20 goals in Ligue 1 before the age of 20 across the last 40 years – Kylian Mbappe, and Wahi.

So far this season, Wahi has impressively scored seven goals in just 16 Ligue 1 appearances for Montpellier, while also providing one assist – he is tied with Lionel Messi for league goals this term.
The Frenchman became Montpellier’s second-youngest goalscorer at the age of 18 years and 13 days when netting his first strike for them in a 3-2 defeat against Monaco back in January 2021.
Wahi made his Ligue 1 debut for Montpellier back in December 2020 at the age of 17 years, 11 months and 14 days.
In total, the France Under-21 international has scored 20 goals in 74 appearances for Montpellier.
Wahi typically plays in the centre of the attack, but he can also operate on either flank.
As aforesaid, Liverpool and Tottenham were both interested in signing him during his days at Caen’s academy.
Juventus, Manchester United and Manchester City also took a look at him.
