Tottenham Hotspur return to Europe ahead of the new Premier League season and the squad will need bulking up.
Even without any midweek games during Ange Postecoglou’s debut season, Spurs played like they had a heavy workload and they struggled when certain players were out of the team.
That was proven when Micky van de Ven and James Maddison got injured at the same time and many believe it derailed Tottenham’s season.
That’s why there were early calls for Daniel Levy to be ambitious in the summer transfer market, back the manager and get as many big deals done as possible.
It has been well over two decades since Levy has been in the hotseat at Hotspur Way and they have only won one trophy.
As you can imagine, it’s annoying for the Tottenham fans, but for the first time in a long time, they believe in the current project under Postecoglou.
Spurs fans can’t argue that, so far, they have got off to a great start and that was proven on Tuesday when they announced the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United.
The 18-year-old came through the academy at Elland Road, a boyhood Leeds fan, whose family, from his great uncle to his dad, all repped the club.
That’s why Gab Marcotti feels Gray’s exit and move to Tottenham has ‘infuriated local fans’ in Yorkshire, as he told ESPN.
European football expert Julien Laurens agreed, but made it clear that Gray is ‘already an incredible player’.
Yes, the London club might have put a lot of money down on the table for Gray, but it might prove to be a masterstroke in years to come.

“It’s obviously infuriating local fans,” stated Marcotti on Gray’s move to Tottenham.
Laurens added: “He was on his way to Brentford. He was doing his medical and then the deal collapsed because of the structure of it. The two clubs could not agree.
“I love Archie Gray. I think he has an amazing future ahead of him. He is going to be incredible already. £40 million is a lot of money for someone who has only played one season in the Championship and is so young.
“If you are Leeds and, not just considering Archie’s season and pathway. All the great family. You don’t want to see him go. Everybody in their family played football. His younger brother is better than Archie himself. It’s a lot of money. It doesn’t work with young English players, so they have to be careful.”

The talented teenager, who was welcomed to the club with open arms by Yves Bissouma, can play at right-back and in the middle of the park.
But will that stop Spurs from going to try and nab another midfielder during the summer transfer market?
There has been a long-standing interest in Conor Gallagher, who isn’t being offered a new contract at Chelsea, as HITC revealed.

Gallagher is currently at Euro 2024 with England and you suspect things will only start to really motor once the tournament is finished.
But either way, you feel Spurs still need to bulk up their midfield and a player like Gallagher would be a fantastic purchase if they can pull it off.
