HITC understands that Conor Gallagher accepts that he will have to leave Chelsea this summer if he is not offered a new contract before the end of the season.

The Blues have endured a difficult campaign thus far under head coach Mauricio Pochettino this season, but they still hold out hope of a top-six finish whilst they are also in the FA Cup semi-finals later this month.

One of the biggest plus points of the campaign has been the form of Gallagher, who Pochettino has handed the captain’s armband on numerous occasions. Gallagher’s performances have also seen him solidify himself in Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

Pochettino has publicly backed Gallagher, admitting just how highly he regards him.

Earlier this year, Pochettino stated: “I think he is a player with a great commitment to the team.

“He is always trying to compensate in every situation, in offensive and defensive situations. It’s priceless to have a player like him.”

Conor Gallagher will leave if he is not offered contract

Despite the wishes and hopes of both Gallagher and his manager, there is distinct possibility that the Chelsea bosses could cash in on the 24-year-old England international midfielder in the summer transfer window.

And HITC sources have confirmed that Gallagher will accept that he has to leave Chelsea this summer if he is not offered a new contract before the end of the season.

Gallagher has been waiting for the Blues to make him an offer to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond his current deal, which expires in 2025, but, as it stands. they have not.

Chelsea have a policy that they will not allow players to run down their deals, meaning they will sell Gallagher rater than allowing him to leave for nothing in 18-months.

HITC has revealed that Gallagher would love to remain at his boyhood club, but the Chelsea hierarchy are yet to make an offer as they are not convinced that tying the midfielder to a long-term deal is their best course of action.

Chelsea do have some Profit and Sustainability concerns, but sources insist that will not be the deciding factor on Gallagher’s future – although being homegrown, any sale of the 24-year-old would represent pure profit.

Conor Gallagher is in demand

While Gallagher’s clear preference is to stay at Chelsea, HITC has now been told that he and his representatives accept that they will have to leave if the London club’s stance remains as it is.

HITC can confirm that Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham United are huge admirers of Gallagher and are ready to make moves for him if Chelsea do make him available.

Gallagher has made 41 appearances for Chelsea this season. He has scored five goals and given eight assists in those games.
