Inter Milan have added Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram to their list of attacking targets, per Gianluca Di Marzio, amid claims Tottenham Hotspur met his agent.
The Nerazzurri instantly hit the transfer market to secure a replacement for Romelu Lukaku by signing Edin Dzeko from Roma. But Simone Inzaghi and the San Siro hierarchy are eager to make a second acquisition before the August 31 deadline.
Inter were already considering a move to sign fellow Tottenham-linked ace Wout Weghorst from Wolfsburg. But a new track has started to open that leads to another Bundesliga side in Borussia Monchengladbach for Thuram.
Tottenham have shown a strong interest in Thuram already, so may not be thrilled to see Inter join the race. Foot Mercato reported Spurs made the forward a priority, but faced a €30m (£25.5m) asking price. L’Equipe soon added Fabio Paratici met his agent Mino Raiola.
Inter admire Thuram for the threat he can provide in multiple forward positions, his rapid pace and excellent technical range. Nerazzurri chiefs are giving a move for the 24-year-old serious thought and have also discussed his availability with super-agent Raiola.
The Serie A champions of 2020/21 debated the feasibility of Thuram moving while finalising Denzel Dumfries’ arrival from PSV Eindhoven. Inter Milan got a first-hand taste of what the four-cap France international is capable of when he produced two decisive displays against them in the Champions League group stage last season.
Thuram ended the campaign with 11 goals and 12 assists over 40 appearances across all competitions, starting 29. Knee injuries limited his availability to new Gladbach boss Adi Hutter this summer. But he played 26 minutes against Bayern Munich on the opening day.

Inter can pose a serious threat to Tottenham in any late-window battle to sign Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach. The Nerazzurri can offer him another taste of Champions League football and the chance to fight for titles.
Thuram may doubt Spurs’ chances of challenging for the Premier League after ending last season in seventh. They also face Pacos de Ferreira in the first-leg of the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday. A far less appealing tournament than Inter offer.
Talks between Tottenham and Raiola also did not prove productive enough for them to bid for now Inter target Thuram. And given the Nerazzurri were successful in signing one Raiola client this summer, they may feel confident of landing another.
