Tottenham Hotspur have held talks for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, but Roma and Jose Mourinho are now making their move.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who have offered an update on the future of Thuram after a lack of movement this summer.

They state that Thuram’s representatives have long been in contact with Tottenham but talks have yet to move forward enough for Spurs to make a bid.

That now means other clubs are in the race to sign Thuram, with Napoli and Roma both mentioned as potential destinations for the forward.

If true, that means Jose Mourinho could now swoop in to pinch Thuram after Tottenham seemingly laid plenty of groundwork.

Gladbach need to sell a key player or two this summer in order to balance the books, and Thuram looks set go with just two years left on his contract.

They want around €25million (£21.5million) for Thuram, which seems more than reasonable if Tottenham want a versatile attacker who can help Harry Kane – if he stays of course.

A huge physical presence at 6ft 4in tall, Thuram also has great pace and only turns 24 in August, meaning he still has plenty of potential.

Fabio Paratici seems to be focusing on defenders right now, but if Tottenham do want Thuram, they’re leaving themselves open to losing the exciting forward to Mourinho.
