Arne Slot has officially begun life as Liverpool manager and all eyes will be on what he does with the squad.
In terms of style of play, the Dutchman isn’t too dissimilar to Jurgen Klopp, that’s why he was appointed and now it’s a case of translating those performances from Feyenoord to the English Premier League.
If Slot is to do that, then he is going to need key players to remain at Liverpool, including Michael Edwards working his magic in the summer transfer market.
One of the key areas Liverpool need to target this summer is bringing in another centre-back.
Saudi Arabia-linked Virgil van Dijk is the main man at the back, but with Joel Matip out of the door, Joe Gomez performing at left-back last season and Ibrahima Konaté still suffering injury issues, then that proven centre-back needs to come in.
One man who Liverpool are interested in signing is Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, as HITC has revealed.
The 23-year-old started for England during their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on Sunday and helped his team secure a clean sheet during the 1-0 win.
For Stan Collymore, the sought-after defender was the Man of the Match as he hailed his composure and ‘combative’ nature during the game, as he told talkSPORT.
Guehi wasn’t meant to start for Gareth Southgate, but an injury to Manchester United’s Harry Maguire leading up to the tournament opened that door.
And, so far, Guehi is taking his chance and probably increasing his chances of leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
Marc Guehi stars for England at Euro 2024
“People would have looked at Guehi, and again, bandwagons amongst England fans are notorious. The Branthwaite omission was like, if England don’t defend well, it’s because Jarrad Branthwaite wasn’t there,” said Collymore.
“I think Guehi came in. His ball distribution was very good. His composure was very good. You saw his movement whenever he had the ball in dangerous positions, playing it across the back four. He would be the man to spring 15-20 yards back to receive it in good time and space.
“When Serbia did have the ball in and around the 18-yard box. He was combative. His first two or three yards were very good, in terms of closing down and getting players’ heads over the ball. A very, very good night’s work. That’s a box ticked, in terms of addressing some of the defensive issues.”

Marc Guehi would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool
This is a player Liverpool should push for and sign this summer if they want to challenge for the title next season.
Guehi came through Chelsea’s academy, but he couldn’t make his mark at Stamford Bridge and they moved him on.
When you look at the defenders at Chelsea now. Someone like Guehi walks into their team.
He is ready to step up again and play for a team in the Champions League because he is an outstanding footballer.
The only issue is that his transfer value might just skyrocket if he continues to perform well at Euro 2024 and even possibly help his team to the trophy.
