Seattle’s final World Cup game has now come and gone, after the USMNT played at Lumen Field on Monday against Belgium
The result was not what the USA was hoping for after Belgium booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
However, the pre-game mood in the Pacific Northwest could not be denied, with World Cup fever well and truly taking over downtown.
Over one million Seattleites were expected to support the USMNT on Monday ahead of the game against Belgium.
🤔 Should Pochettino stay as USA manager or come back to club football? And why?
He has been offered a contract extension to take him to the next World Cup…
It was an experience that many within the city embraced, and the so-called ‘gloomy Seattle’ put on a party that won’t be forgotten.
With so many people out on the streets of downtown, there were even some Seattleites handing out pizza and water to World Cup fans from their apartments.

World Cup fans wowed by Seattle’s hospitality prior to USA vs Belgium
Monday had all the makings of a perfect day for soccer given the stunning weather currently in the Emerald City.
As World Cup fans took to the streets, some Seattleites were captured lowering pizzas, snacks and beverages down to those below them from their apartment windows.
“I’ve seen enough. Seattle wins the World Cup,” replied one fan on X.
One fan who was actually there to see it happen added: “They were awesome. Would drop down a bucket for people to get water bottle refills”.
Whilst another shared their own video, saying: “Free Jell-O shots too!”
A 14-year-old Seattleite said they’d never seen the city so happy as it has been whilst the World Cup has been taking place
“Awesome turnout and passion, but also complete pandemonium there yesterday – people actually got stuck in there trying to move to the stadium before the match – glad no stampede happened,” said one other fan.
Another Seattleite said: “ONLY in Seattle’s Pioneer Square”.
One fan was left amused by the footage of the food and beverages being thrown out to the onlooking crowds of people: “Lol they were giving out free food and drinks,” they said.
The World Cup is now done in Seattle, but the city feels like it still had so much more to offer to the soccer fans from across the world.
