Rob Parker, one of the most iconic voices in sports radio, was not a fan of the way the USMNT played at the FIFA World Cup.
After a very strong start to the FIFA World Cup, many felt that the USMNT were on track for their best-ever performance at the tournament.
However, a brutal loss to Belgium in the Round of 16 seemingly exposed the hosts as not being at the elite level many hoped they were.

Rob Parker says USMNT ‘duped’ fans into thinking they could win
Speaking on Fox Sports radio, Rob Parker, one of the most famous sports personalities in the United States, went on a tirade against the USMNT.
He slammed the team for never delivering against the big sides on the world stage, and tricking people into thinking they can actually compete at a high level.
“US Men’s Soccer is as PHONY as a $3 bill. Every single time they come up against the best of the best in World Cup action, they flame out. They do a bad job. They fold. They turn to goo. That’s what happened yesterday… One of our best players was back. This is going to be incredible.
“It was over in two minutes! It was over quickly. Very quickly. And in embarrassing fashion. You were duped, America. You got duped into buying that something different was happening because of the home field advantage, because of the hoopla, because of what happened in other rounds!
“When it came time to play the best of the best, Belgium beat the United States earlier in an exhibition 5-2, and they stomped the US 4-1 when it mattered the most. It was ugly.”
USMNT must regroup and rebuild after disappointing World Cup exit
With the USMNT putting up yet another poor outing in an elimination game at the World Cup, this has to serve as a lesson for the federation.
For far too long, the USMNT has been one of the most disappointing outfits in world football. Despite having the resources and the financial backing to field a high-level team, they have failed to do so.
There isn’t a lack of talent within the country. But the United States have failed to deliver a squad that can compete on the world stage.
Perhaps now is the time they get their act together and begin working on how to best improve the team, especially heading into next year’s Gold Cup.
