According to The Athletic, Norwich City have told Todd Cantwell he can leave the club amid links to Newcastle United.
The Canaries’ playmaker has been in and out of the team this season for one reason or another, and now, the Norfolk club are ready to get rid of the 23-year-old.
One would have to imagine that Newcastle United’s ears will be burning after hearing this news. After all, the Magpies are in the market for a creative midfielder and Cantwell fits the bill perfectly.
The Norwich ace can play on the left or through the middle, and his talents have even earned him comparisons to Portugal and Barcelona legend Deco in the past.
Cantwell hasn’t had the best of seasons, starting just five league matches for City, but let’s not forget just how talented this young man is.
He was something of a revelation during his first season in the Premier League. He bagged six goals for Norwich and was linked with big-money moves elsewhere.
However, Cantwell remained loyal, and helped Norwich back to the top-flight at the first time of asking, but now, it seems as though his Carrow Road career could be coming to an end.
It remains to be seen where Cantwell ends up, but don’t be surprised if he turns up at St James’ Park.
