The 2026 World Cup saw a surprising relationship built between Scottish soccer fans and the city of Boston.
Scotland’s first two group games of the tournament took place in Boston, and travelling fans became very popular among the locals.
After forming a special relationship with the area, the famous Tartan Army have now been invited to attend a New England Patriots game later this year.

Scotland fans invited to New England Patriots game as thank you for World Cup
The Patriots, who represent the greater Boston area in the NFL, are owned by Robert Kraft.
Kraft has recently invited the Scottish soccer fans to watch his team play the Detroit Lions at FC Bayern Munich’s Stadium in Germany on Sunday, November 15.
Now, Davie Hood, the co-founder of the Tartan Army fan group, has revealed the reason why.
As quoted by WPRI, Hood has explained that the Patriots wanted to show their thanks following Scotland fans’ time in Boston during the World Cup.
He said: “They said they wanted a good Tartan Army presence there to show their thanks.
“They are holding events before the match and want it filled with the Tartan Army and bagpipes.”
The Patriots are due to get their pre-season underway in August before starting their proper campaign against the Seattle Seahawks on September 9.
Their meeting with the Detroit Lions will take place on November 15, with that clash kicking off at 3:30pm local time.
It is one of a number of NFL games to take place in Europe in recent years, and while no team has ever played a competitive match in Scotland, perhaps this newfound relationship coming out of the World Cup could change that in the near future.
