Tottenham Hotspur are heading back to England after finishing up their tour of Asia with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Ange Postecoglou and co have been out in the Far East after wins over Heart of Midlothian and Queens Park Rangers.
Vissel Kobe and Team K League were beaten in Tokyo and Seoul respectively before Tottenham fell to Bayern.
Gabriel Vidovic and Leon Goretzka had Bayern 2-0 up before Pedro Porro pulled one back for Spurs.
Tottenham now have just one pre-season game left to go before the Premier League season starts and, strangely, it will also be against Bayern.
Spurs will welcome Bayern to North London for a second meeting inside a week with Postecoglou no doubt looking to end pre-season on a high.
Radu Dragusin message to Tottenham Hotspur fans
One man who could have easily been in the Bayern squad against Tottenham is defender Radu Dragusin.
Tottenham managed to snap up Dragusin from Genoa in January, adding him to Postecoglou’s defensive options.
The Romanian international was also wanted by Bayern though with Dragusin choosing Tottenham over the German giants.
Dragusin started Saturday’s meeting as he looks to ramp up his minutes after playing for Romania at Euro 2024.
The centre back is set to start his first pull Premier League campaign and will be desperate to move that snubbing Bayern for Spurs was the right call.
Dragusin has now sent a message to Tottenham fans following Saturday’s defeat Bayern.
Speaking to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website, Dragusin noted that Tottenham will go ‘full throttle’ for the first game of the Premier League season.
Dragusin promised that Tottenham will be ‘100%’ for the start of the season, believing that Spurs can ‘achieve something important’ this season with players in ‘great condition’ ahead of the new campaign.
“I was excited to come back to meet the guys, to meet the staff to start training but it’s normal. We train at the highest level possible, it’s normal for it to be hard,” said Dragusin. “This is the nice part of football that when you train hard, you have good results. We have a couple of weeks left until the first game in the Premier League and we go full throttle.”
“I feel the guys are in a great condition. As I said, I’m also trying to reach that condition. I’m working everyday. We are going to be 100 per cent come the start of the season to achieve something important,” he added.
Dragusin pushing for more action
Tottenham snapped up Dragusin having seen him as a talent for the future, but he will want regular first-team action too.
Dragusin has gone from being a first-choice player at Genoa to fighting for a place at Tottenham.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven haven’t yet featured in pre-season having gone deep into major tournaments this summer.
Dragusin may therefore have a chance to really push for a starting role in the early stages of the season with the Leicester City clash just two weeks away.
Dragusin certainly did himself no harm at Euro 2024 with former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy hailing him as ‘outstanding’.
David Moyes praised Dragusin too, suggesting that he deserved to be in contention for the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament.
It’s clear that there is talent in Dragusin, but his exact first-team role at Spurs isn’t quite as obvious despite him committing his future to the club.
