The new Premier League season is upon us and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to entertain again.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will travel to the Midlands on Monday night to welcome Leicester City back to the Premier League.
Last season, Tottenham transformed their style of play under Postecoglou and played some enthralling attacking football.
From new signings, such as James Maddison and Micky van de Ven to the old boy, Son Heung-min, they all put in strong performances and helped the team to a fifth-placed finish.
Fast forward to the present and Spurs have backed their manager in the transfer market again, which has impressed Paul Merson.
The former Arsenal man stated that Tottenham have ‘brought really well in the transfer market’ and he sees them as ‘dark horses’ to finish in the top four.
Timo Werner returned to London on a season-long loan deal, whilst Tottenham also secured the transfer of Archie Gray from Leeds United, but another deal stood out for Merson.
Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke in a club-record deal and Merson thinks it’s a ‘great signing’ because his style of play will help players like James Maddison.
Spurs fans aren’t probably used to Merson being so positive about them because, only 12 months ago, he was predicting that they might not even finish in the Premier League’s top ten after Harry Kane left.
But now, Merson is backing the Champions League hopefuls to get off to a flying start and comfortably beat Leicester in their opening match of the new season, as he told Sportskeeda.
Paul Merson hails Tottenham for Dominic Solanke signing
“Tottenham are dark horses for the top four in the Premier League this season,” said Merson.
“They have brought really well in the transfer market and Dominic Solanke is a great signing. He’s got plenty of pace to burn and he will make runs – that will help James Maddison as well.
“Leicester have lost their manager this summer and have their work cut out for them this season. I am going to go for Tottenham to win this game (3-0).”

Tottenham in the summer transfer market
It has been productive once again and the manager has had money to spend, which puts extra pressure on him ahead of the new campaign.
A host of teams want to finish in the Champions League places and Spurs are no different, with Tim Sherwood also predicting Tottenham’s top-four fate.

You know they are going to score goals. Plenty of them. It’s just about how their defensive shapes up and if key players remain fit.
Postecoglou has been impressed by Djed Spence and now the forgotten Spurs man has the chance to make something of a career at Hotspur Way that just hasn’t got going.
