Liverpool are interested in signing “extraordinary” winger Kamaldeen Sulemana from Nordsjaelland this summer, the Danish club’s manager Flemming Pedersen has told TV3.
This time last year, Nordsjaelland were courting interest from a host of Premier League clubs for their dynamic, box-to-box midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
In the end, the so-called ‘new Michael Essien’ chose to enrol himself in Ajax’s famed finishing school and, with an Eredivisie winner’s medal around his neck already, it’s safe to assume he’s happy with his choice.
Kudus has made it clear he would love to reunite with Sulemana at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
And Pedersen too can see why the twice-capped Ghana international would choose the Dutch champions over a Premier League powerhouse.
“Ajax is perhaps the safe choice where he will definitely get plenty of playing time,” the Nordsjaelland manager explains, comparing his 19-year-old talisman with a certain PSG superstar.
“(Manchester) United, Liverpool and others are in the race.
“And with the personality and mentality he has, I will never say it will be too big a leap, for he is extraordinary.
“We are talking about a player with potential on a par with Neymar, and maybe even more than that, because he’s even faster (than the Brazilian).”
Speaking last week, the £12 million-rated Sulemana admitted he would listen to offers from elsewhere, having seemingly outgrown the relatively small pond that is Denmark’s top flight.
But Pedersen has a point.
Regular playing time is a must for a 19-year-old still learning the ropes and, even if Sadio Mane has had his difficulties of late, would Sulemana get the minutes he needs at Liverpool?
