Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have people at the top of their houses who probably aren’t as ambitious as they should be in the transfer market.

Daniel Levy and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) over the last decade or so have felt the verbal wrath of their fans.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City tend to spend more freely, but Tottenham and Liverpool’s measured approach, at times, does irate their fans.

On the other hand, Tottenham have signed Archie Gray from Leeds United and you are wondering where they could go next.

Timo Werner also returned on a season-long loan deal, but it’s not a signing that has fans jumping off their seat, but this is where Ange Postecoglou needs to be trusted.

But will the London club, who will be playing Europa League football in 2024/25, add any more firepower to their squad?

Tottenham have been urged to make a move for a player who struggled during his time in the Premier League when he was repping Manchester United.

Memphis Depay had an unforgettable spell at Old Trafford and he was out of the door playing for Lyon after 18 months.

Since then, he has repped the likes of Barcelona, he was at Atletico Madrid last season and is now a free agent.

Dick Advocaat thinks Tottenham is the ideal place for the ‘excellent’ Depay and he should just ‘go to a good club’, which isn’t Liverpool, as he told SoccerNews.

“If Memphis just goes to a good club, and we’re not talking about Liverpool,” said Advocaat. “Then, he’s just an excellent striker.”

And, in the Europa League, he has played 35 matches, with ten goals to his name. European experience that would be valuable to the London club.

But when names such as Nico Williams are being spoken about in the transfer market, and Federico Chiesa, then it’s pretty obvious which road the fans want their club to go down.
