A round-up of Newcastle United transfer news from the past 24 hours.

Newcastle United could miss out on the signing of Fabian Delph as they may struggle to meet Manchester City’s £12 million asking price, The Telegraph reports.

Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are said to be in a straight fight to sign the England midfielder, with the Potters currently leading the race.

Rafa Benitez is thought to want to strengthen Newcastle’s engine room, and is believed to be keen on Delph, according to The Telegraph.

Elsewhere, Benitez has made another England international his priority target this summer, The Northern Echo reports.

It is claimed that man is Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, whom the Gunners are said to be willing to sell for £10 million.

And for a slightly lower fee Newcastle could get their hands on a winger, with The Hull Daily Mail reporting Hull City will not block Kamil Grosicki’s exit, as long the Magpies or any other interested parties cough up £9 million to buy him.

However, the paper adds that the presence of Grosicki’s old boss Marco Silva at Watford could be a threat to Benitez’s chances.

One Newcastle player could be heading to the Championship, according to The Northern Echo, with Norwich City said to have enquired about striker Daryl Murphy.

Murphy looks likely to leave St James’ Park, but Newcastle reportedly want £3 million for the Irishman.

Any move to Norwich would be hugely controversial as a former Ipswich Town player, although having said that he has also played for both Sunderland and Newcastle so is unlikely to be phased.

Sticking with that particular publication, it is claimed that Newcastle will push to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray this summer, despite strong competition from West Ham United.

According to The Sun, Burnley are chasing Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga as Gray’s replacement, but Middlesbrough are also said to be keen on the Congolese, and have identified Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle as an alternative.
