Newcastle United could be about to pull off one of the bargains of the summer based on Everton’s transfer stance this summer.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been very quiet in the summer transfer market with the Magpies yet to sign an outfield player with the season starting in two weeks.
HITC has reported that Newcastle had agreed terms with AC Milan for Malick Thiaw but it appears that Howe’s side have shifted their attention to another defender.
We had reported that Newcastle are in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and the signing of the Englishman could prove to be a bargain.

Newcastle could get bargain of the summer
Whilst things have been quiet at St James’ Park, if the Magpies pulled off a deal to sign Guehi, who Steve Bruce praised after his tournament at Euro 2024 this would go down as one of the signings of the season.
We had previously reported that Manchester United and Liverpool were interested in Guehi but it is Newcastle who have stolen a march on their rivals to try and land the Englishman.
Sources have told HITC that Newcastle believe they could get a deal done for Guehi below the £70 million that Palace are demanding which would be some deal.
As mentioned, the former Chelsea defender was one of the standouts for England at Euro 2024 but Guehi crucially does not have a release clause at Palace, which could lead to the South London club demanding whatever figure they like.
Guehi deal a bargain considering the cost of other defenders
Whilst £60-70 million for Guehi would certainly be a hefty outlay for a player who has never played in the Champions League, this would be a great deal.
Comparing this deal to that of Jarrad Branthwaite who now looks set to stay at Everton is a useful indicator.
HITC had reported that Manchester United wanted Branthwaite but Everton were firm in their demands as they, too, wanted £70 million for the defender.
Whilst Newcastle would be spending £70 million on either player, the potential outlay on Guehi would surely be more value for money.
Branthwaite is just 21 years of age with the season just gone being his real breakthrough whilst Guehi has had years of Premier League experience.
As well as this, Guehi is just coming off the back of a key Euro 2024 experience which Branthwaite did not get as he missed out on the final travelling squad chosen by Gareth Southgate.
Whilst £70 million would be steep for Guehi, Newcastle have to look at the market they’re in and realise this could be great value for money.
