Two fans are currently living out every soccer fan’s ultimate dream: being paid to watch the World Cup from the best seats in the house.
The 2026 World Cup has sparked unprecedented fan fury over astronomical ticket costs, with final tickets skyrocketing past $11,000.
Supporters’ groups blasted FIFA’s newly implemented variable pricing model as a betrayal, pointing out that costs have surged up to 500% compared to the Qatar tournament.
Can anyone stop France winning this World Cup? If so, who? 🤨
France made light work of a pretty toothless Morocco without really looking at their best…
Beyond the pricing shock, fans are highly critical of logistical headaches. Widespread complaints have targeted inadequate public transit access at remote stadiums, severe stadium heat, and long online queue delays.
And we’ve even seen empty seats in early matches due to the cost, leaving ordinary fans feeling entirely priced out of the tournament.
But for two fans, the World Cup in North America has been a blessing.
Fox offered two fans $50k to watch every World Cup game
Fox Sports is paying two fans $50,000 each to watch all 104 World Cup matches. The catch? They have to sit inside a transparent cube right in the middle of Times Square.
It’s the ultimate dream job, provided you enjoy 330,000 tourists judging your breakdown of a 0-0 draw.
Sitting on a comfortable couch, they take in the action on 85-inch TVs streaming the tournament in 4K.
Austin Franklin and Kevin Akoto beat out over 6,000 other applicants to land Fox Sports’ job as Chief World Cup Watchers.
Kevin was a restaurant worker, whilst Austin quit his job in November with aspirations to be a content creator.
